Protecting Children. Preventing Tragedy
Burn injuries are among the most devastating traumas a child can suffer—and yet, the majority are entirely preventable. At The House of Charity, we are committed to breaking this cycle through education, awareness, and community engagement.
The Facts Are Urgent
Every single day:
Why It Matters
A severe, non-fatal burn is one of the most painful and life-altering injuries a child can endure. Beyond physical trauma, burn injuries can have lasting emotional, social, and financial impacts—not just on the child, but on the entire family. Many families spend years coping with the consequences of an accident that could have been avoided.
But here’s the good news:
Our Mission: Educate to Prevent
The Fire Safety and Burn Prevention Education Program by The House of Charity is built to reduce these injuries through life-saving knowledge and skills.

Part of the Fire Safety and Burn Prevention Education Initiative by The House of Charity
The Safety Smart Babies Program is a life-saving educational initiative by The House of Charity, developed especially for expecting and new parents, as well as caregivers. Focused on burn and fire prevention for infants and young children, this program addresses one of the most common but preventable causes of injury in early childhood—burns occurring in the home.
Why This Program Matters
The majority of childhood burn injuries happen at home—and most are preventable. Through early education and awareness, we aim to significantly reduce the number of burn incidents in infants and young children by empowering families and caregivers with vital safety knowledge.

“This Tea Stain Never Goes Away.”
At The House of Charity, our experience caring for burn patients over two decades has revealed a painful truth: 80% of burns among children under the age of seven in both urban and rural Pakistan are caused by hot tea—and nearly all occur at home. With an estimated half a billion cups of tea prepared daily in Pakistan, the risk is widespread and deeply rooted in household habits.
In response to this alarming reality, we launched the Chai Ka Nishaan (The Tea Stain) Burn Prevention Campaign on November 1, 2019, in memory of Chaudhry Ahmad Saeed, a passionate advocate for public health and safety.
